Batman: Arkham Origins’ multiplayer “draws parallels” with the likes of Splinter Cell’s Spies vs Mercs and the original Aliens vs Predator on PC, Splash Damage creative director Alastair Cornish has told VideoGamer.com.
“Initially we looked at the Arkham franchise and what would work best but within the team we probably draw parallels with two titles really: the original Aliens vs Predator from way back on the PC and also Spies vs Mercs – some of the people who are working on the multiplayer component for Origins actually worked on Spies vs Mercs” Cornish explained.
“They’re definitely games we’re passionate about and we just think generally asymmetrical games with that layer of depth and those tactics, they just offer so much long term fun, so much depth and engagement and are so fresh and unique – they don’t feel like me-too modes.
When we see people on forums guessing and they mention those two titles we’re really happy because we draw those parallels ourselves. They weren’t direct inspirations but we’re happy for those parallels to be drawn because they’re great games.”
