Microsoft has announced Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, the third game in the much loved video game series staring Banjo the bear and Kazooie the bird.

The Lord of the Games (aka LOG) has grown tired of the squabbling between Banjo and the evil witch Gruntilda so has arranged a showdown to decide the rightful owner of Spiral Mountain. Banjo must complete LOG’s challenges to win, while Grunty attempts to stop him and his bird pal using every method possible.

Much of the gameplay revolves around players creating their own abilities by building vehicles for Banjo to pilot over land, water and air. Parts, from which vehicles can be constructed, are earned and collected throughout the game. By exploring worlds and solving puzzles players will be rewarded with more advanced and diverse vehicle parts.

Microsoft and Rare are claiming that if the player can imagine it they can build it at Mumbo’s Motors easy to use workshop. This can be anything from a simple object-carrying truck to a flying saucer. Over 100 contraption parts will be available, giving rise to endless combinations and a unique experience for each player.

If you’re not feeling the vehicle creation then the game will also offer players the ability to get straight into the action by using the many pre-built vehicles that are included from the offset. Many more can also be purchased throughout the adventure using the in-game currency of musical notes.

In addition to offering a complete single-player experience, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts will provide multiplayer fun with a host of competitive and cooperative challenges to play alone or in teams.

Expect to hear much more on Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts over the coming months, with the game’s release set for Holiday 2008.
