Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition will be released for PC today at 8pm GMT, but versions for iPad, Android and Mac have been delayed, creative director Trent Oster has revealed.

“iOS build had a game-stopper bug,” Oster explained on Twitter. “With current estimate for App Store approval, that puts us into next week. We’re doing all we can.”

“We aren’t going home until the new build is submitted. We’ve done a lot of builds and testing and we are close now.”

The Mac version is taking even longer for approval so a release date is “hard to predict”, says Oster.

Android tablet users can look forward to their version “before Christmas”, but expect support to be strongest on Nvidia-powered devices.

As for an iPhone version, Oster says it requires a full user interface overhaul in order to be playable on the smaller screen.

While not offering many graphical improvements, Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition does boast a host of improvements – including cross platform multiplayer – new characters and a new adventure in The Black Pits.

PC gamers can buy and pre-load the game now via the Baldur’s Game website.
