According to Patrick Bach, senior producer on Battlefield: Bad Company 2, the upcoming first-person shooter will feature an in-game store not too dissimilar to that of Mass Effect 2’s Cerberus Network.

Access to the store will be granted by activating a code included in all new copies of the game. Just like Mass Effect 2, if you buy the game second hand and want access to the store you’ll need to pay extra.

“We want people to insert the code they get when they buy the game to get access to [DLC content]. It’s connected to your personal account, more or less, and what we want to do is give you something extra, added value, for that,” explained Bach. “In the future you will get more content, for free, if you have this VIP code.”

The store will list all current and upcoming DLC, including free DLC that will be available at launch – a set of new multiplayer maps.

Bad Company 2 is scheduled to launch on March 5, 2010, for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
