Having been revealed late last year, the AyaNeo KB and DS variants have just seen a pre-launch on Indiegogo.

In a product reveal event Arthur Zhang, AyaNeo CEO, had the chance to show off the company’s next two handhelds – an homage to the Nintendo DS. Although we’d already been privy to the specs, the main kicker of the story is that we can expect an official launch event for both devices at the end of January, which AYA NEO have now confirmed.

The AyaNeo Flip KB touches on many of the same notes that the SLIDE does: namely, a keyboard. An issue that many Windows handheld PCs have faced is the lack of a dedicated handheld mode in the OS, and issue that sees joysticks and face-buttons struggling to overcome. The inclusion of keyboards in some AyaNeo handhelds is a welcome change from the ordinary form that the best handheld games consoles including the ASUS ROG Ally and Steam Deck face at times.

That said, the AyaNeo Flip DS is going to feel extremely nostalgic to all Nintendo fans. Featuring dual screens, a gimmick not really seen since the Wii U, the handheld PC is going to give gamers a chance to experience that same sensation under modern display standards. Unfortunately, the specs of the 3.5-inch bottom touch-screen have not been fully fleshed out, though it seems likely that it’s going to far surpass that of the Nintendo DS and Wii U.

A look at the upcoming AYA NEO FLIP KB & DS specs.

Both the AyaNeo Flip KB and DS feature a 7-inch 120Hz display set to rival that of the ASUS ROG Ally, a Radeon 780M, and a choice between a Ryzen 7 8840U and Ryzen 7 7840U. It’s going to be interested to see how the 28W battery handles cooling and performance optimisation, especially with a second screen to modulate on the FLIP DS.

You can sign up early for the AyaNeo Flip KB and DS pre-release on Indiegogo, though a price has yet to be revealed.
