Launched back in 2006, Auto Assault attempted to offer something new in the increasingly popular MMO space. The game was set in a post apocalyptic world and, rather than levelling up fantasy creatures or superheroes, saw players take control of a battle vehicle and upgrade the driver’s skill, vehicle armour and weaponry.

Reviews were mixed and it appears as though the game hasn’t proven popular enough to warrant keeping the game servers open. Auto Assault officially launched on April 13, 2006, but NCsoft has announced that severs will close on August 31, 2007.

NCsoft also notes that any players with an active billed account will not be billed again. Expect more announcements regarding the game’s termination and its impact on current accounts in the near future.
