This update is a free addition to the base game, which means you will need to buy Atlas Fallen to enjoy the new content. Speaking of new content, Reign of Sand is being sold as the “ultimate version of Atlas Fallen”, expanding the world, and bringing new enemies, and quests.

When does Reign of Sand come out?

On PC, the Atlas Fallen Reign of Sand release time is set for approximately 4pm BST on Tuesday, August 6 2024. This release time has been confirmed by the expansion’s listing on Steam, which is listing 23 hours at the time of writing. In the US, this time will be 8am PDT / 10 am CDT / 11am EDT. As mentioned, this is an expansion to the base game, so you will need to buy the original game before you can enjoy the additions of this DLC. Here is a countdown to when you can play the Reign of Sand expansion in the UK.

With the base game being out since August 2023, this expansion releases almost on the game’s one-year anniversary. With this free update, we can expect the following additions, and then some: “An expanded world, new enemies, revamped progression, new quests. Enjoy new voice acting, a reworked campaign and face even more formidable creatures”. As per the listing on Steam, there will also be a New Game + mode added with the Nightmarish difficulty.
