Gaul buddies Asterix & Obelix are returning for a third round of Roman-bashing antics, with Asterix & Obelix XXL 3 currently in the works for a late 2019 release.

The game will feature an original story that stays true to the duo’s comic book origins, and lets you pick between Asterix or Obelix in a brand new adventure that’s playable solo or with a mate in tow.

If that wasn’t enough, Anuman Interactive confirmed that’s it’s polishing up Asterix & Obelix XXL 2 on PlayStation 4, PC, Switch, and Xbox One this November. Originally released on PlayStation 2, the remaster will be available in two flavours: Limited Edition and Collector’s Edition, which add a bunch of physical extras.

‘It’s a great honor to put the Asterix and Obelix XXL series back at center stage! We are delighted to bring players a new game in this intergenerational franchise,’ commented Elliot Grassinao, Microids’ vice president.

Asterix & Obelix XXL 2 remastered will launch on November 29. I’m pretty excited, if only because I bloody loved the cartoons as a kid.

I did play one Asterix game on the Mega Drive yonks ago, although I can’t remember much about it other than I kept getting kicked in the face by a horse. Bloody thing.
