A new Assassin’s Creed title will launch on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this year in addition to the next-gen/PC-exclusive Assassin’s Creed Unity, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has teased.

Discussing the franchise’s future during a call with investors last night, Guillemot said: “We have not disclosed our plan yet for the Xbox 360 and PS3 SKUs [of Assassin’s Creed]. However, we have made it clear that as a company we expect to continue supporting both consoles for the foreseeable future.”

Guillemot’s comments follow earlier rumours suggesting that Ubisoft intends to launch a separate Assassin’s Creed title on last-gen consoles, expected to be called Assassin’s Creed Comet.

Rumours state that Comet could be set in North America similar to Assassins’ Creed 3, although comments from Ubisoft Toronto head Jade Raymond suggest that the game could be set during Ancient Rome. The Comet name would also tie-in with Caesar’s Comet, a major historical event that occurred at the time of Julius Caesar’s death.

Will Comet be revealed during next month’s E3? And will it be on Wii U? We’ll find out in a few weeks’ time.

Assassin’s Creed Unity launches on Xbox One, PS4 and PC later this year.
