Ubisoft surprised everyone with the announcement of a Star Wars Outlaws port for Nintendo Switch 2 during the console’s recent Nintendo Direct. However, it seems that the studio is also bringing another AAA title to the handheld: Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
With the next-gen only Assassin’s Creed already optimised for handhelds like the Steam Deck, Ubisoft’s latest release certainly sounds possible on the new handheld. While nothing has been confirmed by Ubisoft itself, a recent PEGI rating update has teased the new port.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Nintendo Switch 2
A recent update to the PEGI rating of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, via Eurogamer, states that the latest game in Ubisoft’s long-running series is sneaking onto the Nintendo Switch 2.
The website was quietly updated to add support for the new Nintendo console alongside the existing Xbox Series, PlayStation 5 and PC platforms.
When an existing game is brought to a new platform, that title has to go back through the ratings procedure. Typically, this is done closer to release, but many unannounced games have been leaked via PEGI, ESRB and other ratings boards in the past.
Ubisoft has yet to officially announce a Nintendo Switch 2 port of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. However, considering the studio’s huge support for the last Switch handheld, everyone expects the company to have a very strong presence on the new console.
As for whether or not the new AC game can run on the Switch 2, it seems very possible. Shadows already runs quite well on the Steam Deck, and Switch 2 versions of Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy and more look substantially more stable than playing on that system.
