Assassin’s Creed on the Wii U is not the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, Ubisoft has confirmed.

“Our next edition of “Assassin’s” [will be] in a Wii-U version”, said Ubisoft president Yves Guillemot in an interview with Aftonbladet.se, translated with Google.

When asked if it would be Revelations, Guillemot replied “no, not Revelations. For the future.”

Does that mean it’s Assassin’s Creed 3 then, Yves? “I cannot say,” he replied.

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations is the third (and purportedly final) game in the ‘Ezio trilogy’ of Assassin’s Creed games, and has the master assassin – now in his fifties – travel to Constantinople to continue his desires to jump over rooftops and stab naughty people in the eyes.

VideoGamer.com went hands-on with the game’s multiplayer this week. “The formula works, and if Ubisoft continues to refine it, there’s every chance the series could gain a substantial online community,” we said in our Assassin’s Creed: Revelations preview.

Ubisoft hasn’t announced where the series is heading after Assassin’s Creed: Revelations – though the 3DS title Assassin’s Creed: Lost Legacy was recently canned by Ubisoft – but many fans are suspecting Assassin’s Creed III.

Assassin’s Creed has been an annual franchise for the last three years, and if Ubisoft decides to develop Assassin’s Creed III for next year then that would naturally tie-in with the 2012 release of the Wii U.

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations will be released for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on November 15.
