New York Times bestselling author Steven Barnes is to pen a trilogy of Assassin’s Creed novels, the first being a prequel to launch in October 2007.
Acting as an accompaniment to the video game, the first novel will aim to expand on the back story of Altair and Third Crusade adventures.
“Assassin’s Creed is an all-new video game franchise that will immerse players into another time and experience,” said Tony Key, vice president, marketing at Ubisoft. “The Assassin’s Creed books, which begin by layering elements that prequel the game, will only expand upon this adventure to an eager audience of gamers and thrill seekers.“
Assassin’s Creed is in development for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC and is currently planned for release later this year.
