Ashes Cricket 2013 is looking increasingly unlikely to make its revised July release window after publisher 505 Games failed to confirm whether the troubled cricket title was still on track to launch by the end of the month.

VideoGamer.com checked in with 505 earlier today to ask whether the game had been pushed back beyond July, but was told by a representative that the firm “[had not] confirmed any dates and I can’t comment on any further delay.”

With a date still to be announced it appears unlikely that Ashes Cricket 2013 will release by next Wednesday, despite initial promises from 505 to be “more transparent” about the game’s delay.

The game, which recent developer updates suggest hasn’t yet passed console certification, was pushed back from its original June 22 release date just two days before launch.

505 Games later apologised, explaining that the game had been delayed to help it deliver “the best possible cricket game”.

But there’s still little information about a release date, and fans have been clamouring for answers after the game failed to release in time for the opening test of the 2013 Ashes series.

The question now, of course, is whether Ashes Cricket will ship before the series ends on August 25. ShopTo currently lists the game for release on August 16.

The first gameplay footage of the game was released last week.
