Studio Wildcard has had a decent amount of success with dinosaurs in survival game Ark: Survival Evolved, and are now setting their sights on the piracy market with Atlas.

Announced during The Game Awards last night, Atlas will be available through Steam Early Access starting December 13, and will be coming to consoles via Xbox Game Preview in 2019.

It's been described by Wildcard as 'the ultimate survival MMO of unprecedented scale with 40,000+ simultaneous players in the same world.' That number seems ambitious and lacking some real clarity, but I suppose we'll see what the truly means in about a week's time.

In an FAQ on the game's Steam page, the studio says Atlas will be in Early Access for 'approximately 2 years,' and that it will be 'an unparalleled massively multiplayer experience from Day One.'

The trailer, which you can watch below, does look really pretty and very Sea of Thievesy. Well, like a mix between that and a large scale Game of Thrones battle replete with dragons and monsters and demons, OH MY!
