With Guild Wars: Factions less than two weeks from release, attention is switching to future plans for the series. Speaking in yesterday’s VGM Daily podcast, Strain confirmed previous reports that the turnaround on future Guild Wars games is expected to be much faster, with the plan to release a new title every six months.
“I would not be surprised to see something by the end of the year,” Strain said. “Obviously we’re so early in development we’re not committing to any kind of release schedules, but if we’re going to be on a two-a-year schedule and we’re shipping one in April, that kind of helps you set the time frame for the next release.“
The third Guild Wars campaign is already well underway, and a fourth game is also in the planning stages. Each new campaign will function independently from one another, meaning anyone can join the series without having to own the previous titles. The benefit to those that do own previous games is the ability to take your character between games.
