Embark hasn’t released a roadmap for Arc Raiders, but the game’s design director, Virgil Watkins, has shared that the studio internally considers it a “10-year game”. Speaking during a stream at Twitchcon (spotted by MP1st), Watkins explained, “I think internally, for a very long time, we refer to this [ARC Raiders] as a 10-year game. So that is the ambition we’re aiming for and that kind of dictates the type and quantity of content that we want to put into it”.

As for why there’s no public roadmap, Watkins stated that right now they’re not going to discuss “details that can quickly spiral into promises that can go unfulfilled if things change”. While nothing is laid out or promised, the design director assured fans, “We’ll have some stuff lined up post-launch, and for a little bit after”. However, in the further future, the type of content added “will be based on what [Embark] see out of the launch and going there after to start dropping the content that we need to”.

Watkins didn’t go into specifics regarding new content, but said fans can expect obvious additions “over time like new maps, and extending questlines, and introducing new enemies, new weapons and things like that”.

No Arc Raiders Roadmap Before Release

It might be disappointing for some that there’s no roadmap before release but hopefully Embark will share their plans for the immediate future not long after the game releases on October 30th.

Fortunately, while the addition of new maps will be sweet, there’s plenty available for the game’s launch:

  • Dam Battlegrounds
  • Buried City
  • Acerra Spaceport
  • The Blue Gate

There’s also a mysterious fifth map called Stella Montis. Embark’s Everything You Need To Know blog post reads, “There are even rumors of a place called Stella Montis, but what that is and how to get there is still unknown”. With this vague description, it’s unknown if the map will be available right away or if it will be added.

One feature Embark are not planning on adding post-launch is first-person mode because it is “very implausible”. The developer has also said they are “looking into” fan complaints about a graphical downgrade in the Server Slam from Technical Test 2, but no update has been provided.

Arc Raiders will not be free-to-play when it launches unlike Embark’s The Finals, however, the pre-order price has been reduced in some regions. And, before the game comes out, Embark has confirmed they have ditched mandatory wipes in favor of a player-driven reset system.
