Arc Raiders is one of the most highly-anticipated multiplayer shooters set to come out soon, and, although the game is no longer free-to-play as originally planned, Embark have made the decision to reduce its price “across multiple locations” before release. From the developers of The Finals, Arc Raiders has been anticipated ever since it was first revealed in 2021, and now we only have to wait until October 30th for it to release. If you have pre-ordered the game already in certain regions, you may be eligible for a refund so you can get the game cheaper.
Embark reduces Arc Raiders’ price “across multiple locations”
On the official Arc Raiders Discord Channel, Embark Ossen has announced that Embark have “been working on reducing the price of ARC Raiders across multiple locations to ensure a more fair price point for all [and] This change will take effect today [October 7th]”.
Below is a list of all the countries included:
- Brazil
- Chile
- China
- Colombia
- Costa Rica
- India
- Indonesia
- Malaysia
- Peru
- Philippines
- Taiwan
- Thailand
- Ukraine
- Uruguay
- Vietnam
Unfortunately, there’s no mention of how much cheaper the game is now, and we can only assume this applies across the PSN and Microsoft store as well as Steam. If you already pre-ordered the game in one of the above locations before October 7th, “you will receive a refund automatically, though this can take a few days depending on the platform”.
Away from the countries listed above, in the United Kingdom and United States Arc Raiders costs £32.99/$39.99. Originally, the game was intended to release as free-to-play, however, that changed with an announcement at Gamescom 2024.
As for why Arc Raiders is no longer releasing free-to-play, executive producer, Aleksander Grondal, said, “For the game we’re building, we looked at that game and we felt that it became clear to us that it operates much better in a premium model than a free-to-play model”. Grondal further claimed, “It’s a better game for it. This is not just a pure business decision. It’s also something that the developers on our team have been telling us. They feel like it’s more of that type of game”.
