Embark has revealed that The Flying Arcs have received a nerf before Arc Raiders comes out because “their awareness was a bit too high,” leaving them “unintentionally over-powered”. In their Server Slam thank you, Embark explained that during the playtest they were able to “essentially see through trees and bushes”. No specifics about the nerf are shared, but their sight and awareness have been “adjusted,” which should result in a “fairer sight at launch”.
It’ll be interesting to see how the nerf is received as on Reddit a few of the community have pleaded with Embark not to nerf The Flying Arcs. The argument from players is that “the Arc need to be difficult to fight otherwise why the hell would the population be hiding below the surface in Speranza?”.
Fortunately, only their sight is being downgraded. This means they should still be difficult, but they won’t be able to unfairly see players through bushes and trees.
Other Arc Raiders Improvements from the Server Slam
Aside from a nerf for The Flying Arcs, Embark is also improving stability before the game releases on October 30th. Again, no specifics are shared, but the developer has “locked in even more solutions… to ensure a smooth launch experience”.
Another improvement is for The Dam Tower. The developer recognises that players were able to access the key loot location “too easily” thanks to an exploit, so “That’s been fixed to keep the challenge sharp”.
Lastly, during the Server Slam, Embark responded to fans who noticed a graphical downgrade from Technical Test 2. The developer has now reiterated that “default settings did change a bit to favor more performance” on certain hardware. There’s no commitment to restoring the visuals from Technical Test 2 but Embark “are looking into tuning further to strike the right balance”.
Ahead of the game’s imminent launch, Embark has also shared they will not be adding first-person mode because it is “very implausible”. The developer has also revealed that internally they consider Arc Raiders a “10-year game”.
