It’s rumoured that Apple, a company well known for its high-priced, premium products, is preparing a budget price iPhone 4 to compete in emerging markets where traditional manufacturers like Nokia are still dominant.

According to Reuters, Asian suppliers have already began manufacturing a low-cost version of the iPhone 4, which will launch with a smaller 8-gigabyte flash drive, as oppose to the current 16GB and 32GB versions.

It has been reported that Apple is already in talks with Chinese carriers China Mobile and China Telecom to get the handset into the right markets in that region.

The new handset could be on shop shelves in the next few weeks, and is expected to launch alongside Apple’s iPhone 5.

The new iPhone, which many are referring to as the iPhone 4S because of its largely identical appearance to the iPhone 4, is reported to have a bigger screen, better antenna and an 8-megapixel camera, one source claims. This falls in line with speculation a few weeks back that the new iPhone will not be a huge update over the iPhone 4.
