The Apex Legends Mirage’s Holo-Day Bash event introduces a new mode, a new Town Takeover, new Heirloom Set, and over 20 winter-themed cosmetics.

This is Apex Legends’ first winter event! The fact that Apex Legends is a totally new IP that came from nowhere part way through this year still stuns me. Anyway, happy holidays! Firstly, there are 24 Event Limited premium cosmetics to be won during Mirage’s Holo-Day Bash. Each character has gotten a themed skin, like Caustic as Father Christmas, Pathfinder as a candy cane, Mirage as a nutcracker, and Octane as a deeply haunted Rudolph the Reindeer. These themed cosmetics are available in Holo-Day Bash Packs and will be available for direct purchase through in-game Apex Coins or Crafting Metals.

If the player grabs all 24 items before the event ends, they will get the Pathfinder Heirloom Set. It’s a pair of boxing gloves with their own emotes, and they’re quite cool. The Pathfinder Heirloom Set will be added as an Apex Pack item once the Holo-Day Bash is over for those who missed out during the winter celebrations. Moreover, there will be Holo-Day Bash challenges which offer exclusive cosmetics like a holiday loading screen, two new snowy weapon skins, and a candy cane gun charm. Adorable.

The new mode is the Winter Express. Not the Polar Express, that’s different. The World’s Edge train will whistle by, decked to the nines with holly and ivy. The teams must attempt to secure the Winter Express as it travels across the map, and each Legend will come with a custom loadout as soon as the game begins. Unlucky squaddies will respawn with each round and are able to swap to another character in the middle of the match. The team to secure the train three times wins, and loadouts will chop and change daily.

Finally, Mirage has let the eggnog get to his head and has invited us all to his party boat—The Mirage Voyage. That doesn’t even rhyme. Anyway, the party boat has all the ornaments and armaments to let players boogie on down and snap up those sweet, sweet eliminations. And, from December 13 to December 16, players will get double the experience point rewards and will boost their Account Level and Battle Pass progression. As usual, this doesn’t apply to Battle Pass challenge Star rewards, but there’s no time like the present to drop into the Outlands.

Apex Legends is out now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Watch the Mirage’s Holo-Day Bash event trailer below.
