The multimillion-selling Ape Escape franchise will make its PS3 debut in June, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced.

From Worldwide Studios’ Japan Studio, Ape Escape comes to PS3 with monkey humour and a host of new features for PS3, including full compatibility with PlayStation Move.

Ape Escape sees a breed of cheeky space chimps invading planet Earth, and it’s down to the player to catch the critters and save the day. The game will feature 15 stages of monkey mayhem as you track down the evil primate leader, Specter.

The PlayStation Move controller will transform into a host of gadgets to catch those pesky monkeys, from the Monkey Net, Slingshot and Smasher to super-gadgets like the Banana Zapper and Ape Vacuum.

These gadgets can be used in two types of gameplay: bash off apes in Chase battles or attack and defend simultaneously to prevent monkeys from grabbing your bananas in Capture battles.

There will also be a three mini-games to enjoy, each unlocked as players progress through story mode.

Ape Escape will bring back many a fond memory to gamers who enjoyed netting apes back on the PSone. Hopefully the franchise’s first appearance on PS3 will be just as fun.
