Anthem's Closed Alpha period will kick off on December 8 for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One, publishing powerhouse Electronic Arts has announced.

The Closed Alpha will run until December 9, and will only be available to a small number of players. To be in for a shot, you'll need to sign up for the Alpha test on EA's community website; there's no pre-order guaranteed access here, folks.

Developer BioWare also warned that the Closed Alpha may not be the most stable experience, as the studio will be fiddling with various settings including matchmaking during the test.

Right now it isn't known exactly what part of Anthem will be showcased during the Closed Alpha, although it'll still give players a chance to test drive the game a few months ahead of release.

Anthem is due for release on February 22, 2019, with free story-based DLC planned and, fortunately, no loot boxes. Mass Effect fans will also be pleased to learn there will be some N7-style armour up for grabs, too.
