Electronic Arts and BioWare have staple-gunned a February 22, 2019 release date to the hotly anticipated Anthem.

The sprawling action-RPG is currently in development for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One, and proudly flexed its muscles at EA Play this evening.

Speaking during a brief Q&A during the presser, the team at BioWare also revealed that Anthem will not have loot boxes. There will be vanity items up for grabs, but you won't be able to purchase anything to give you an advantage from a gameplay perspective.

Anthem has often been described as EA's answer to Destiny, and to be fair, there's a lot of similarities. The game features a massive, shared universe and places a heavy emphasis on cooperative-based antics, and there's also a story to soak up too.

However, Anthem differentiates itself by introducing hulking armour known as Javelins, which come in a variety of different flavours and offer heaps of customisation opportunities.
