Rovio has announced the release of Angry Birds Rio, on iOS, Mac and Android platforms.
The game was developed in conjunction with Twentieth Century Fox, and features the animated stars of the studio’s upcoming film, Rio, which opens in theatres soon.
In Angry Birds Rio, the original Angry Birds are kidnapped and taken to the magical city of Rio de Janeiro, where they eventually escape their captors and set out to save their friends, Blu and Jewel – the stars of Rio.
The game uses the physics-based gameplay of the original Angry Birds and mixes in some unique elements based on the film.
Angry Birds Rio features 60 levels, new achievements and a “spectacular boss fight”. Players can also expect episodic updates throughout 2011.
The regular iPhone/iPod touch version is priced 59p, while the iPad version will set you back £1.79. A free version featuring six levels is also available.
