Platinum Games’ Anarchy Reigns, the studio’s third home console title for SEGA after Bayonetta and Vanquish, will now be released July 6, 2012, SEGA has announced.

The beat ’em up’s delay follows news from earlier this year that the game had been moved out of an autumn 2011 release to January 2012.

“Anarchy Reigns brings a new take to the brawler genre and we’ve decided to take a little more time to deliver the full knockout punch. I can’t reveal much now, but it’s something to do with scale. Let’s just say traditional one on one or two versus two fighters will be a thing of the past,” said Gary Knight, senior vice president of Marketing at SEGA West.

Anarchy Reigns is coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Let’s hope the extra development is put to good use as we’ve been left underwhelmed by the title so far, especially given it comes from the creators of Bayonetta and Vanquish.
