Amiibo figures are only capable of storing data for one game at a time, Nintendo has revealed on its Japanese website.

“Amiibo can only store data for one read/write compatible game at a time,” reads the website as translated by CVG.

“If you wish to use the data from other read/write compatible software, please erase the data in the ‘Amiibo settings’ section of the Wii U settings menu.”

While the figures can only store data for one game at a time, a character holding data for Smash Bros. will still be able to unlock items in other compatible games, such as Mario Kart 8.

The first wave of Amiibo figures launch in the UK on November 28, and include Mario, Peach, Link, Samus, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Pikachu, Kirby, Fox, Marth, Villager and Wii Fit Trainer.

Then from December 19, Nintendo will release a further 6 characters, including Zelda, Diddy Kong, Luigi, Little Mac, Pit and Captain Falcon.

Wave 3 is set for January 23 and includes Rosalina, Bowser, Lucario, Toon Link, Sheik and Ike. Wave four arrives four weeks later on February 20 and includes Meta Knight, King Dedede, Shulk, Sonic and Mega Man.

All characters are part of the Super Smash Bros. Collection.
