A November 13 game update for Mario Kart 8 on Wii U will enable the title to make use of amiibo characters when they launch on November 28, Nintendo has revealed via a now pulled Nintendo.com post.

“Get Mii racing suits with amiibo!” states the Google cache version of the website.

“Dress up your Mii in racing suits based on each amiibo character’s look.”

It’s assumed this feature was accidentally revealed ahead of a planned announcement during Nintendo Direct at 10pm this evening.

The website listed Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Donkey Kong, Link, Kirby, Captain Falcon, Samus, and Fox McCloud as compatible with MK8. It’s not clear if the likes of Pikachu, Wii Fit Trainer and Animal Crossing Villager will work with the game.

If this is the kind of amiibo functionality we can expect in other games then that’s a little underwhelming.
