A new post on the Gears 5 website (via GameSpot) says that the sequel to Gears of War 4 will be a 'player-first experience,' which basically means that you won't have to put your hand in your digital pocket for the majority of extra content.

Gears 5 doesn't have a season pass, all DLC maps will be available for free, and while there are microtransactions, developer The Coalition has said players will know what they're buying. In other words, the game won't feature any of those surprise mechanics you find in EA's games.

While speaking to IGN at E3, studio head Rod Fergusson said, 'the only random kind of chance you have is that there's a type of content that we essentially give to the player for free just for playing.'

Gears 5 will be available on Xbox One and PC on September 10. In the meantime, have a look at new character Fahz Chutani, played by Rahul Kohli, in a recently posted cinematic from the game.
