According to “an extremely trusted source” of XBLAFans, Remedy is working on a new Alan Wake game – subtitled Night Springs – for Xbox LIVE Arcade.

The spin-off will be set in the world of the spooky paranormal drama that took place on television screens littered about last year’s Alan Wake. It’s therefore not likely that the sleep-deprived writer himself will make an appearance.

The rumour backs up an earlier comment by Remedy that more Alan Wake is coming.

“Fans of the franchise will be excited to learn that yes, more Wake is coming! But to be absolutely certain to avoid confusion, this next Wake instalment will not be Alan Wake 2. And neither will it be DLC,” said Remedy’s Oskari Hakkinen.

That’s not to say Alan Wake 2 isn’t in development too, however. If the CV of Althea Suarez Gata is to be trusted, a sequel to the psychological thriller is also in the works.

The rumour has yet to be confirmed by Remedy or Microsoft.

I’m the only person in the office that seems to care about this. Everybody hates Wake here; Martin describes him as a “humourless, inexplicably successful writer who finds evil puddles a source of genuine terror.” – but his ridicule falls on deaf ears today, as it’s extremely unlikely Wake will make an appearance in the spin-off. For shame 🙁
