Norwegian developer Funcom, creator of MMOs Age of Conan and the upcoming The Secret World, has announced it plans to cut 20 per cent of its workforce as part of a cost-cutting exercise.
According to a report on E24, the in development The Secret World has been delayed by several months as a result of the cut backs. The game is yet to be given a firm release date.
Funcom is aiming to relocate its business to Canada in order to take advantage of a 37.5 per cent salary reimbursement from Quebec. Together with generally lower salaries in Quebec, Funcom could see its wage bill halved as a result of the relocation.
The developer is said to have offered staff relocation packages.
