Additional Oblivion content coming soon

Speaking to GameSpot, a Bethesda representative has revealed that two additional pieces of content for Oblivion should be available “in the coming weeks.” The first is the Orrery quest which tasks the player with repairing a Dwarven Orrery. Once repaired the player is given access to powers based on the world’s lunar cycles. What powers has not been revealed, but GameSpot thinks lycanthropy (werewolves) could well be one of them.

Also soon to be offered up is the Wizard’s Tower, which can become the player’s new home. How exactly the Tower comes under the possession of the player is unknown, and could be as a result of a quest or merely something which can be acquired. Once players settle into the Wizard’s Tower they will be able to grow herbs, make spells, summon atronachs, and perform other magic.

The new content is to cost $1.99 to download on the PC game, but no pricing for the Xbox 360 versions has been revealed. The Bethesda representative has also been defending the price of the first in-game download, some horse armour priced at 150 Microsoft points, stating that its price is inline with previous downloads such as the Kameo Christmas costume.

“We’re one of the first [developers] doing stuff like this, so we’ll have to see what types of downloads people prefer. It’s hard to tell right now until we have more stuff out, how many people want item plug-ins, versus quests or locations, and so forth. It certainly may be the case that some plug-ins will appeal to some folks and not others, but we hope we’ll be able to provide a good variety so that there’s something for everyone… and hopefully more than one something for everyone,” the rep told GameSpot.
