In an interesting turn of events, American car manufacturer AM General is taking Activision to court over the appearance of their signature Humvee vehicle making appearances in the Call of Duty series.

As reported by Reuters and spotted by Eurogamer, the Indiana based company is seeking compensatory, punitive and triple damages from Activision, claiming consumers are ‘deceived into believing that AM General licenses the games or is somehow connected with or involved in the creation of the games.’

The complaint accuses Activision of ‘taking advantage of its goodwill’ by including Humvees and featuring them prominently in the game without their permission and remarks that both companies have apparently been in discussion for over a year on the dispute with no resolution, forcing them to take the matter to court.

Activision for their part are declining to comment, with a spokesperson telling Reuters on Wednesday that the company does not discuss pending litigation. Maybe that’s one reason why Call of Duty decided to focus so heavily on just the boots on the ground this year?

Call of Duty: WWII is out now of PC  and is doing pretty well for itself, all being told.
