Activision will take “appropriate action” against those retailers breaking the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 street date, UK MD Peter Hepworth has told MCV.
On Friday it was reported that online retailer Simplygames.com had stock of the game and was dispatching for arrival on the following Saturday. Many gamers have reported receiving their copies on the Saturday, three days before the official launch.
“We take street dates very seriously,” said Hepworth.
“The vast, vast majority has held the line. Everyone wants the big community event at midnight when the sales come through. I am aware of some exceptions. We are looking at appropriate action. But we are pleased to say we have got the support of all of the retail partners, and they are not causing these issues. They want to help us celebrate it at midnight tonight.”
Black Ops 2 will launch at midnight with the support of more than 2,000 stores across the UK. More than 6,5000 stores will be selling the game tomorrow morning.
