Bandai Namco has released a new trailer for its forthcoming combat flight game, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, that’s peppered with drama, intensity, and dogfights. It all looks rather hectic with loads of planes demonstrating frankly insane flight manoeuvres, whilst shooting up planes and cities, and casting a light on the explosive conflict between Princess Rosa Cossette D’Elise of the Kingdom of Erusea and the Osean Federation.

Ace Combat 7 is the first game in the series that comes to the current generation of consoles, and is a direct sequel to Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation. The Osean Federation hasn’t respected the Kingdom of Erusea’s sovereignty, and it’s gone ahead with the construction of a giant space elevator on Erusea’s territory. Understandably this hasn’t gone down well at all, royally getting on the nerves of the Princess Rosa Cossette D’Elise of the Kingdom of Erusea, who’s ordered by decree that her citizens fight for their nation. The Osean Federation refuses to back down from this threat of retribution, calling upon its large number of experienced pilots to fight back. Many parallels could be made between a game and the real-world.

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown on the PS4 will also include an exclusive experience for PS VR owners, this is alongside the full campaign in classic mode that’ll appear on the Xbox One and PC formats.

Ace Combat 7 is coming in 2018 on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
