Bandai Namco has announced Ace Combat 7, the next entry in its popular air combat franchise heading to PS4.

Developed by Project Aces using Unreal Engine 4, the game promises to provide “the most engaging aerial battles in the franchise’s storied 20 year history”, backed up by “photorealistic visuals” and “beautifully rendered skies”.

It’ll also include features specifically designed for PlayStation VR, although by the looks of things, it will not require the headset to play.

“It’s no small feat for any video game franchise to thrive over two decades,” said Bandai Namco Europe’s VP of Marketing and Digital Herve Hoerdt. “Ace Combat’s legacy lies in its tremendous quality and deep storytelling. With Ace Combat 7, we are planning on dominating the skies once again and delivering an unparalleled experience thanks to the PlayStation 4 technologies and to our team experience with their know-how!”
