Acclaimed World War II shooter Battlefield 1943 is now available to play via Xbox One's backwards compatibility feature.

Developed by DICE, Battlefield 1943 was originally released back in 2009 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as a digital-only title.

A cracking little multiplayer game, Battlefield 1943 has you taking up arms as either the United States Marine Corps or the Imperial Japanese Navy during WWII's Pacific Theatre of Operations. There's four maps up for grabs, and you can go boots-on-the-ground as regular infantry or hop into numerous vehicles including tanks and landing crafts.

Those of you who already bought the game over Xbox Live can simply download it to your Xbox One now and get stuck in. If not, hit up the Xbox Store and pony up £9.99 to add it to your collection.
