Take-Two has announced that it has delayed the release of one of 2K's major upcoming titles to fiscal year 2020.
Speaking in its latest earnings report overnight, the publishing powerhouse confirmed that the unnamed title, which may possibly be Borderlands 3, will now ship in the period April 2019 – March 2020.
The game was originally pencilled in for release during the 2019 financial year, which meant it would have been on shelves by next March at the latest.
The reason for the delay? The game simply needs more development time. Fair enough.
Borderlands 3 is an obvious candidate. We know the game is in development, although Gearbox overlord Randy Pitchford recently hinted the sequel may not be at E3. If the game needs more work, it would certainly make sense not to show it off just yet.
On the other hand, it could be the new BioShock game that's rumoured to be in development.
Whatever the project ends up being, the fact that Take-Two has referred to it as a sequel to one of 2K's 'biggest franchises' means it can't really be a new IP.
