Michael Keaton, who famously played Batman in Tim Burton’s Batman and Batman Returns films, is believed to be in talks to return to the superhero film fold as a villain in Marvel’s Spider-Man Homecoming, sources have told Variety.

Keaton’s stock has never been so high – other than his time as Batman – coming off a best actor Oscar nom for Birdman and appearing in the two most recent Oscar best picture films, Birdman and Spotlight.

Tom Holland will play Peter Parker/Spider-Man, whilst Marisa Tomei is Aunt May.

With plot details currently kept secret it’s unknown which villain Keaton would play.

Production on Spider-Man will begin this summer, with a release already set for July 7, 2017.
