Rising Star Games has unveiled the first details of Pilot Academy, the first flight simulator to be available on the PSP. The game is based on the massively successful Japanese flight sim series ‘Pilot Ni Narou!’, which has appeared on both the PlayStation and PlayStation 2. In Pilot Academy you will be able to take charge of civilian and military aircraft, in both single player and missions and multiplayer aerial combat.

The Pilot Ni Parou series has shown that flight simulations needn’t be niche, and Pilot Academy will reinforce this,” says Junichi Kutsuzawa, series producer. “The game will offer the most authoritative simulation of civil and military flight ever seen on a handheld, without requiring a degree in engineering to play. Everyone’s fascinated by the wonder of flying, and Pilot Academy will allow everyone, everywhere to enjoy commercial or military aircraft in a host of different planes.

The game will feature three regions, each around 64km square in size for you to explore. Those who are not versed in flight sims should not be put off as the game will include a series of tutorial exercises teaching you the basics of flight.

The game will feature combat planes from four eras: World War I, World War II, The Cold War and modern day combat. Many types of civilian planes will be available including crop sprayers and 300-seater passenger jets. There will also be a number of stunt aircraft to test out your flying skills.

There is great news on the multiplayer front as the game will feature support for up to eight players, over a variety of game modes with no need for every player to own the game. Pilot Academy is due for release for PSP in March 2006.
