Hybrid, an upcoming multiplayer shooter by Scribblenauts developer 5th Cell has been delayed until next year.

The XBLA title was first announced last October and slated for a 2011 release. However speaking with IGN, creative director Jeremiah Slaczka said the studio required “an additional year” in order to “take what [5th Cell has] learned and really drill down on our ideas to hopefully transform this game into something great.”

The game is said to centre around two rival factions in a persistent online world war that rages on even when you’re offline.

5th Cell has always been a creative developer and Hybrid in particular is being billed by many as an ambitious sounding shooter. It will be interesting to see what it can bring to XBLA after focusing largely on the DS platform for so long.
