Announced at the Game Awards 2025, 4Loop is a brand-new four-player co-op shooter set in an original sci-fi universe. Coming courtesy of Left 4 Dead designer Mike Booth, SIE, and Bad Robot Games, this multiplayer experience aims to combine endless replayability and exciting roguelike action.

The reveal trailer opens on a post-apocalyptic Earth, invaded thanks to the use of a mysterious machine that your team must now use to fight back against hordes of horrors.

Save the world by failing

This same machine has the power to bring back your team members should they perish. This is where the roguelike element to the first-person shooter experience that will keep you and your friends coming back for just one more round.

The scenes after show a variety of gruesome and creative deaths at the hands of the monstrous invaders. The trailer urges you to “learn from your failures,” suggesting a cyclical mission design akin to Hades 2

In a PlayStation blog post, Booth described his intentions for the core gameplay loop. “Each time the four-player team succeeds in a mission, they make choices to improve their equipment, building out a unique kit to survive the epic boss battle at the end of the Act,” outlined Booth.

“If the team completes all three Acts, they defeat the Mothership and save the world. All of this is, of course, easier said than done.”

By mixing familiar first-person multiplayer shooting with a smooth roguelike gameplay loop, 4Loop promises an endless replayable experience that you can enjoy time and time again with friends.

4Loop will be coming soon to both PS5 and PC. Those who are eager to try it out can sign up for the playtest via Discord on the 4Loop website.
