The storage and power bundle which has now been confirmed by Datel will allow for 4GB of data to be stored, and thanks to the X2 3600 mAh Battery you should be able to play with your PSP for twice as long before needing more juice. Expected to retail at around the same price point as a 2GB Memory Stick Duo ($250), the 4GB hard drive will offer twice the storage and come with the extra benefit of increased battery life.
Initial thoughts were that the device was a hard drive and battery in one, but images sent to lik-sang.com confirm that the hard drive and battery are two separate items, that will simply be packaged together. Both the battery and hard drive look to fit into the PSP’s battery compartment, but will extrude out further than the official memory pack. We assume the hard drive will also need to be connected somehow to the PSP’s memory port. You will also receive a USB data cable with the package. There is currently no official word on a release date or price.
The online retailer Play.com is, however, taking pre-orders for the device at £149.99 with a release date of October 21st.
