IGN reports that according to unnamed developer sources, Nintendo’s 3DS handheld system will boast processing capabilities which “far exceed” the Wii and approach the power of the PS3 and Xbox 360.
Sources also indicate that the handheld will not use the long-time rumoured Nvidia Tegra mobile chipset, but some other solution.
It’s hard to imagine a handheld with processing power almost in line with the HD platforms, but we don’t have to wait much longer to see if the rumours are true – Nintendo plans to unveil the 3DS at its E3 media briefing on June 15.
