Following the game’s unveiling on the cover of Game Informer magazine, 2K Games has officially announced that it will publish Borderlands, the latest title from Gearbox Software, for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Games for Windows.
Borderlands is the first title in an all-new sci-fi action franchise, combining the best elements of Gearbox Software’s acclaimed first-person titles with player customization and vehicular combat.
Gearbox has developed revolutionary new game technology which gives Borderlands layers of depth and features a content system making for near-endless variety in missions, environments, weapons, item drops and character customization.
This might sound like marketing spiel, but Christoph Hartmann, President of 2K believes Borderlands is the real deal.
“By utilizing revolutionary new technology to create thousands of unique, randomly generated missions, weapons and situations, Borderlands will raise the bar for next gen action games.,” said Hartmann.
Borderlands is a cooperative title, with players able to share the same game experience online. The game will make is easy for players to join or leave online games at anytime, or opt to play in the full single-player mode.
There’s no firm release date just yet, but the current target is winter 2008.
