It appears Microsoft will be offering five different options to gamers wanting to experience the Gold Xbox Live service. Prices range from $7.99 for a one month Gold card to $69.99 for an all singing all dancing package including a 12 month subscription, headset, free Xbox Live Arcade game, $20 discount on a game purchase and 200 Xbox Live Marketplace points. With the headset and game discount this means a year’s subscription is essentially only costing you around $30, which sounds great.

The details will come as good news to those gamers calling for card based top-ups as have been available for games such as World of Warcraft, allowing gamers to get online without needing a credit card. Gamers will also be able to buy short subscriptions if they only wish to play a game online for a set period of time, without having to commit to a 12 month subscription.
