The fourth instalment in the current series of the BBC’s Doctor Who: The Adventure Games will be released as a free download on Christmas Day.
Titled Shadows of the Vashta Nerada, the final chapter in the series will be made available immediately following the Doctor Who Christmas Day TV special on BBC One.
Matt Smith and Karen Gillan reprise their roles as the Doctor and assistant Amy Pond, respectively, and find themselves in the underwater colony, Poseidon.
“We’ve gone all-out for the season finale,” said Doctor Who producer, Steven Moffat. “Shadows of the Vashta Nerada takes place entirely underwater – something which would be impossible for the TV series, as water is so expensive. It’s thrilling, terrifying, educational and fun. Just steer clear of those shadows.”

Doctor Who fans – Whovians – can now look forward to a Christmas with the Doctor, although after all the turkey and an hour in front of the Doctor’s TV special, a few might find themselves feeling too sleepy to immediately start playing the game. Maybe something for Boxing Day then.
Although the end of the current run of games, the BBC has previously confirmed that a second season has already been commissioned.
