Microsoft has lifted Xbox One console bans ahead of the console’s launch tomorrow, meaning those who have already received their console can access Xbox Live and start playing as intended.
The news comes from Andre Weingarten. aka Moonlight Swami, who told Kotaku that the ban was lifted whilst in class at college.
Weingarten was one of around 150 people who received the Xbox One console two weeks early when Target sent out units by mistake.
The freshman was banned from Xbox Live shortly after receiving his console, but told Kotaku he was confident the situation would be resolved.
“I knew I’d be able to get online again; Major Nelson (Hryb’s Gamertag) thought it would be Thursday at the latest,” said Weingarten, who lives on Long Island. “I was thinking, ‘Ah, great, I’ll get out of class, then I’ll have to go into the city.'”
After downloading a 1.25GB day one update he was ready to go.
Weingarten was pretty chilled out by his moment in the spotlight.
“I didn’t mind it, I loved talking with my friends about it,” Weingarten said. “It was that I was obliged not to tell them certain things, and I wasn’t going to break that agreement, so I couldn’t go into too much detail.
“A lot of my friends on YouTube had friends who were saying things like, ‘I totally know that guy.'”
