Maelstrom is the result of a collaboration between Codemasters and the Russian game studio KDV Games, and promises an innovative RTS experience with transforming tech, and totally destructible environments.
The demo features two missions from the single-player game. Mission one is taken from the Ascension campaign, allowing players to take control of the technologically advanced Ascension forces (transforming weaponry and cloning super-soldiers). The second mission is from the Alien campaign and puts the player in command of the invading Hai-Genti. Players must penetrate the defences of the Remnant base and harvest bio-matter to evolve their army.
Maelstrom is set for release in October, and a second demo, complete with multiplayer, from the final build will be released when the game goes gold in September. For now head over to the Codemasters.com to download the first demo.
