Introversion has made a name for itself as one of the few successful indie developers. With titles including the award winning Darwinia and critically acclaimed DEFCON under its belt, the developer now looks set to offer titles to console gamers.
Speaking to Next-gen.biz, Introversion’s Mark Morris said: “I think you’ll be seeing some console titles coming out from Introversion over the next twelve months or so.“
Morris says that the console releases are likely to be downloadable and that doesn’t rule out games for handhelds, although he does admit that “There’s not really much of a download market for the handhelds now.“
“The downloads fit with Introversion very well. [Downloadable games] need to be smaller, they need to be unique. All of our games have at least got that,” said Morris.
Xbox Live Arcade – the Windows Vista version of Darwinia already has native support for the Xbox 360 controller – and the PlayStation 3 Store look the most likely homes for Introversion’s console releases but Nintendo’s Wii could also provide adequate shelter in its Virtual Console service.
Next-gen anticipates several announcements from Introversion at GDC, which begins next month.
