How to complete the faction showdown event in Modern Warfare 2

Call of Duty fans are wondering how to complete the faction showdown event in Modern Warfare 2? The event is set to commence along with the game’s Season 5 on August 2nd. There’s an exciting selection of new content that is coming in Season 5 such as weapons, maps and even new modes.

Completing the faction showdown event

As with previous seasons, Season 5 of MW2 and Warzone 2 will feature a new thematic event that ties into the current season’s story. You will once again be able to participate in challenges to unlock exclusive MW2 faction showdown event rewards.

The Faction Showdown event will allow you to join any one of two factions: Task Force 141 or Shadow Company. To complete this event and reap the rewards, you must try to complete various challenges. These include both general tasks and faction-specific ones based on your chosen faction. 

So the first thing you need to do is access the game’s Events tab from the game menu and choose the faction you wish to join. Whichever faction you choose, you will be required to complete the main community challenge, which is the same for everyone and that is to ‘Earn up to 50 Operator kills’.

It’s worth noting that during the event, you are free to switch between Task Force 141 or Shadow Company as often as you like. This allows you to complete some or all of the Operator kills for your chosen faction’s main challenge until you’ve finished the event for both sides.

Faction Showdown event start date in MW2

The Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Faction Showdown limited-time event will commence on August 4 and conclude on August 16, 2023.

As previously mentioned, both the Task Force 141 and Shadow Company factions will have their own set of challenges. By completing these specific challenges, you can unlock additional exclusive content from the Faction Showdown event.

The challenges from Task Force 141 will be related to activities including Finishing Moves and Melee weapons, as well as achieving a certain number of long shots using Battle Rifles. As for the Shadow Company, the challenges will include getting SMG kills from behind and using your entire Loadout gear including Launchers and Lethal Equipment.
